Flight Departures at Stuttgart International Airport

When it is time to depart from Stuttgart Airport there are probably some questions that you want answers to. We have listed some of the services and amenities available at the airport to make it convenient for the traveler.

While the airport has 4 passenger terminals they are all connected with each other on landside and they all share one single large airside area. This means that once through the security control all passengers may move between the different terminal areas freely to shop or eat.

Transfers to Stuttgart Airport

There are several ways to transfer to Stuttgart Airport from the center of Stuttgart city. Transfers are also available from many other destinations locally, regionally, nationally and even internationally.

Rental Cars - The rental car vendors that are available at Stuttgart Airport are located in Terminal 3's public area. To return a rented vehicle, please follow the instructions provided by the car rental company. Buses - All buses and coaches arrive at SAB, Stuttgart Airport Busterminal, which is located across the road from the terminal complex.

Several bus lines operate between the center of Stuttgart to the airport on a daily basis.

A night bus is provided from the city center to the airport during the earliest morning hours and the latest evening hours when no other public transfer is available. Further information about buses to and from Stuttgart Airport.

The ride from the city center to the airport takes at least 30 minutes.

Taxis - Taxis will drop off their customers outside the Departures area of the Terminal of departure. More information about taxis at Stuttgart Airport.

The journey from the center of Stuttgart takes approximately 25 minutes and will cost from around 35€.

Trains - The S-Bahn connects the center of Stuttgart with the airport with trains from early mornings to late evenings all days of the week. Lines S2 and S3 service the airport. Additional information about train services at Stuttgart Airport.

The ride takes just under 30 minutes and it stretches over 2 tariff zones.

Trams - The tram line U6 serves the airport. It departs from Hauptbahnhof, Stuttgart's main train station located in the center of the city, during the daytime all days of the week. The frequency of departures is between 10 and 30 minutes depending on the time of day and whether it is a weekday or weekend. Departures are more frequent during the core hours of the weekdays.

Shuttles - It is possible to book a private transfer through a private shuttle company.

Rideshares - Rideshare companies are booked via their company smartphone application.

Carsharing - Carsharing spaces are available at the airport via Share Now and deer e-Carsharing.

Smoking at Stuttgart Airport

Smoking is prohibited inside all the airport's terminals. There are designated smoking areas located outside where travelers can have a cigarette before going through the security control.

There is some information available stating that there are a few smoking booths available in the secure area, after going through the security control. This is however not confirmed.

We recommend not taking any chances and make sure to smoke before going into the airside area to be on the safe side.

WiFi at Stuttgart Airport

STR provides free WiFi to all visitors and travelers for up to three hours, available in all terminals.

Start by activating the WiFi-function on your device and select the network "AIRPORT-FREE-WIFI". Select the website of choice and you will be automatically redirected to the HotSpot page of Telekom D Gmbh where you simply press "online", and you can surf away.

Airport Medical Center at Stuttgart Airport

The airport has a medical center located in Terminal 1's public Departures area. It is open on weekdays between 8 am and 4 pm, except for on Fridays when they close at 2 pm but are available for booked appointments.

Pharmacy at Stuttgart Airport

The airport pharmacy is open all days of the week. It opens at 8 in the morning and closes at 7 in the evening on weekdays, and on the weekends it closes at 2 in the afternoon.

Observation Deck at Stuttgart Airport

An Observation Deck is located in the public area, outdoors, of the airport. This is where visitors can enjoy watching the planes land and take off.

There is also a mini airfield and pedal-powered aircrafts available for children to practice driving down the taxiway in.

It is free of charge and it is open from 8 in the morning until 7 in the evening all days of the week.

Casinos at Stuttgart Airport

Casinos are located in Terminal 3 and Terminal 4, in the respective terminal's arrivals area's public sector.

Adult guests are welcomed, children are not allowed, and all gamblers are offered free beverages.

The casinos open at 6 in the morning and close at 10.30 in the evenings all days of the week.

Photo Booth at Stuttgart Airport

In case you need a passport photo for your visa or just want to have a fun memory visit the photo booth located in the public sector of Terminal 2's Departure area.

Kids Areas at Stuttgart Airport

Terminal 3 and Terminal 4 have areas where kids can have fun in Amusement Rides for children. There are two locations in Terminal 3 and one in Terminal 4 where these are found.

All are located in the public areas.

Massage Chairs at Stuttgart Airport

Travelers and visitors can find massage chairs located in Terminal 3's arrivals area, public sector, for a nice and relaxing neck to calf massage.

Tourist Information at Stuttgart Airport

The airport's tourist information desk is located in the public sector of the Arrivals area in Terminal 3.

It is open on weekdays from 10 in the morning to 6 in the afternoon/evening, except for the lunch hour from 13-14.15 (1pm-2.15pm) when it is closed.

ATMs at Stuttgart Airport

ATMs/cash machines can be found in Terminals 1 and 3. Some are located in the public sector and others are located inside the secured area.

Currency Exchange at Stuttgart Airport

A currency exchange counter can be found in the public sector of Terminal 1's Arrivals area. They are open from 8 in the morning to 7 in the evening all days of the week.

Food and Beverages at Stuttgart Airport

There are several establishments at the airport offering food and beverages to travelers. Most are located on airside, but there are also some to be found on landside.

Shopping at Stuttgart Airport

Duty Free shopping is available in the Departures area, on the secured airside, in Terminals 1, 3 and 4. There are also a wide variety of other shops offering beauty products, clothing, electronics, travel necessities, books and magazines, and much more. These shops are available to all travelers that have passed through the security control as all terminals share the same airside area.

Some shops can also be found in the public areas on landside.
